Multi-author monograph entitled Contemporary Arab World. Literary and Linguistic Issues is a collective work of researchers from the Arabic Department of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.
It is a collection of six papers dealing with selected issues of contemporary Arab world, presenting effects of the work conducted by the „Arabic and Islamic Studies” research team.
Particular papers focus on issues of contemporary Arab world, chosen on account of academic interests of the authors, as well as with an aim of enriching the didactic content of their classes.

Barbara Michalak-Pikulska is the Head of the Arabic Department of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. She obtained her Ph.D. in Arabic Literature from the Jagiellonian University in 1994, and now she is professor of Modern Arabic Literature. She has edited various publications and research papers in the field of Arabic literature and participated in many international conferences in several Arab and European countries.
